Job Title: Senior Linux Systems Engineer

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Linux system administration, with expertise in troubleshooting complex issues and performance tuning.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain large-scale Linux infrastructure, including servers, storage, and network devices.
  • Perform advanced kernel tuning, patching, and OS upgrades to ensure system stability and security.
  • Implement and maintain high-availability (HA) clusters, load balancing, and failover mechanisms to minimize downtime.
  • Automate system administration tasks using Shell scripting, Ansible, or Python to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Monitor server performance and resolve CPU, memory, and I/O bottlenecks to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex system failures, log analysis, and root cause investigations to identify and resolve issues quickly.
  • Manage LVM, RAID, and storage configurations for optimal performance and data integrity.
  • Configure and secure services such as Apache, Nginx, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Docker/Kubernetes to ensure secure and reliable operation.
  • Work on identity and access management (LDAP, SSO, PAM configurations) to ensure seamless authentication and authorization.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and hardening Linux systems (CIS benchmarks, firewall rules, SELinux, etc.) to protect against threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (networking, DevOps, security, and application teams) to ensure smooth operations and meet business objectives.
  • Provide L3 escalation support and mentor junior engineers to develop their skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting complex Linux issues and performance tuning.
  • Strong knowledge of scripting (Bash, Python, or Ansible) for automation.
  • Experience with HA clusters, load balancing (HAProxy, Keepalived), and failover setups.
  • Familiarity with virtualization and cloud platforms (VMware, AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Nagios, or Zabbix.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Firewalls, etc.).
  • Security hardening experience (SELinux, AppArmor, iptables, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
