Database Infrastructure Engineer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, installing and managing our databases to ensure optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing, maintaining, and scaling critical data storage and intelligence platforms.
  • Building, maintaining, and scaling production services and server farms across multiple global data centers and public cloud providers.
  • Contributing to product architecture to improve services' performance, operability, scalability, service reliability, capacity, and observability.
  • Collaborating with team members to manage both production SQL-based and Cassandra/NoSQL databases.
  • Managing mission-critical high transaction rate databases, including configuration, administration, monitoring, security management, performance optimization, replication, troubleshooting, and backup of traditional SQL databases (MySQL/Percona) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra/MongoDB).
  • Installing, configuring, and upgrading nodes in high availability customer production clusters.
  • Ensuring proper monitoring, alerting, capacity planning and reporting in the production environment.
  • Contribute to evolving design and architecture of reliable and scalable infrastructure.
  • Developing processes, tools, and documentation in support of production operations.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in designing, maintaining, and administering NoSQL databases (Cassandra, MongoDB)
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in designing, maintaining and administering traditional SQL-based databases (MySQL, MariaDB, Percona)
  • Experience managing Kafka message bus infrastructures strongly preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated track record of leveraging them to evangelize technical best practices with databases/data intelligence platforms
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience required
