Design Innovator for Backbase

We are seeking a talented User Experience Designer to join our Services team at Backbase. As a UX Designer in our Asia hub, you will be responsible for creating innovative and user-centric design solutions for leading banks in the region.

About the Role:

  • Implement Omni-channel, Retail, SME, and Wealth banking product solutions across Web, Android, and iOS.
  • Manage and maintain Figma files and design systems effectively and consistently for project clients.
  • Conduct design and workshop activities including wireframing, user testing, creating personas, etc.
  • Communicate and present design theories and best practices to support stakeholder decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members and agile squad.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years relevant experience in Product/Service/UX/UI design in a consulting firm or agency.
  • Fluency across a broad range of skills including design and workshop facilitation.
  • High proficiency in working with complex design systems and libraries on Figma.
  • Strong knowledge of design tokens, components, and Atomic Design principles.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence in thought and execution.
  • Clear and confident communication and presentation skills in English and preferably one other Asian language.
  • Strong team player who can collaborate effectively with different stakeholders.

Bonus Skills:

  • Prior experience in design consultancy.
  • Prior experience in designing products for Asia users.
  • Prior experience in Fintech and a passion for banking solutions.
  • Prior experience in designing across all platforms, including native apps iOS, Android, and responsive web.
  • Experience in facilitating design workshops.
  • Basic understanding of HTML/CSS to communicate effectively with front-end engineers.
  • Good knowledge of Material design guidelines & Apple HIG.

As a UX Designer at Backbase, you will be working with a dynamic team of UX designers, UX researchers, product designers, and the wider design community within Backbase. You will be responsible for advising customers on all aspects of User Experience from branding and visual design to experience design and information architecture. Your broader understanding of the dynamics of building and releasing software on a large scale will help you navigate conversations with your team and customers.

In your daily project work, you will be the source of design knowledge for all Backbase Apps and the Backbase Design System. You will use design tools and methodologies (segments, personas, and other research collateral) to drive more complex projects and partner up with peers in research and development. Above all, you will be one of Services' design ambassadors, working to educate different audiences through confidence and storytelling.
