Database Engineer Position

We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience in distributed, in-memory NoSQL caching/datagrid systems.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in designing, implementing, managing, and optimizing high-throughput, low-latency caching solutions that power mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage GemFire/Geode clusters with high availability, scalability, and resilience.
  • Tune latency, memory, and GC behavior to achieve sub-millisecond responses.
  • Implement ACID-compliant transactions, two-phase commit, repeatable-read, read-committed isolation.
  • Integrate the cache with backend SQL databases; design cache invalidation and write-through/write-behind strategies.
  • Develop logic to create listeners, interceptors, compute-grid tasks, continuous queries.
  • Manage authentication, access control, and secure communication channels.
  • Enable rolling upgrades, automated scaling, disaster recovery readiness.
  • Collaborate with backend, application, and DevOps teams to align caching strategies with business needs.
  • Mentor and share expertise in distributed caching and performance optimization.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience with Apache Geode or Pivotal GemFire cluster setup, locators, partitioned/replicated region configuration, transactional operations.
  • Strong Java skills, especially with Geode APIs and client/server integrations.
  • Deep knowledge of distributed systems, including partitioning, consensus, replication, and fault tolerance.
  • Understanding of ACID principles in a distributed caching context.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills.
  • Bonus points for experience with other in-memory systems (Redis, Hazelcast, Ignite, Couchbase, Ehcache, Aerospike) and cloud deployment experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) for GemFire/Geode clusters.
