Job Title: Senior Intellectual Property Specialist

Educational Qualifications: A graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field is required.

Additional Qualification: WON certification and WIPO DL101 are highly valued. Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Qualified Patent Agent Exam will be advantageous.

Experience: At least 18 years of experience in the field of intellectual property management.

Purpose of the Role:

  • To review new product designs for potential areas of intellectual property legal risk and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • To perform advanced technology analysis, including competitive intelligence analysis, design IP protection, and freedom to operate reviews.

Role Description:

  1. Drive Innovation: Identify areas for improvement in intellectual property culture and implement changes to strengthen technology and new product development.
  2. Intellectual Property Expertise: Develop search strategies and conduct search analysis for freedom to operate, state-of-the-art, invalidation, opposition, and litigation purposes.
  3. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with IP attorneys, legal associates, and cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues and drive business results.
  4. Process Improvement: Plan and conduct BOM FTO reviews for new products at the product level across automotive technology domains, implement best-in-class practices, standardize processes, and enhance productivity through digitalization.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Release periodic IP alerts, review and dispose concerns from stakeholders, effectively build conviction with stakeholders, and manage projects/business clusters independently.
  6. Global Search Analysis: Plan, conduct freedom to operate, state-of-art search analysis on LRP/advanced technology and trigger timely protection for all forms of IP across major global jurisdictions.
  7. Industry Best Practices: Be well-versed with industry best practices, state-of-the-art tools for IP searches, and perform searches across multiple jurisdictions.
  8. Claim Interpretation: Review and resolve claim interpretation issues in FTO with stakeholders, liaise with legal team for effective disposal, maintain confidentiality of IP matters, systematically docket records, and promote best-in-class IP culture.

A qualification in IP Law and WON certificate will be an advantage.
