Job Title: Head - Intellectual Property Management

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead our Search and Licensing vertical. As the Head of this business unit, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction, technical oversight, and business leadership.

This role involves managing the overall performance, profitability, and growth of the Search and Licensing vertical. You will work closely with our team to deliver high-quality IP search, analytics, and licensing services to global clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Vertical Leadership & Strategy:
    • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the Search and Licensing business unit.
    • Align our offerings with market needs and emerging IP trends.
    • Set annual goals, budget forecasts, and investment plans for the business unit.
  • Revenue Generation & P&L Ownership:
    • Owning the profit and loss of the vertical; ensuring revenue targets are met or exceeded.
    • Developing pricing strategies, resource allocation, and service optimization plans to maximize profitability.
    • Tracking project pipelines, billing, and receivables in coordination with the finance team.
  • Service Delivery & Quality Assurance:
    • Supervising end-to-end execution of all IP Search and Analytics services, including:
    • Patentability/ Novelty Searches
    • Freedom To Operate (FTO) Searches
    • Invalidity/ Validity Searches
    • Patent Landscaping/ Technology Scouting
    • Implementing rigorous quality control protocols and ensuring delivery timelines are met.
  • IP Monetization & Licensing:
    • Leading the design and execution of IP Monetization strategies.
    • Supporting clients in identifying licensing opportunities, negotiating deals, and executing transactions.
    • Building a strong partner/licensee ecosystem across industries.
  • Client Engagement & Satisfaction:
    • Serving as a strategic advisor to clients, offering insight-driven IP solutions.
    • Ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and retention through proactive communication and consistent service quality.
  • Team Leadership & Performance Management:
    • Leading a team of analysts, senior searchers, and licensing professionals.
    • Driving a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and accountability.
    • Monitoring performance and conducting regular feedback and appraisal sessions.
  • Staffing Strategy & Hiring:
    • Planning and forecasting manpower needs in alignment with project pipelines and growth targets.
    • Working with HR to attract, interview, and onboard high-calibre talent.
    • Developing internal capability by identifying skill gaps and creating upskilling plans.
  • Capability Building & Leadership Development:
    • Mentoring and grooming high-potential team members into future leadership roles.
    • Conducting regular training sessions on search techniques, licensing frameworks, and communication.
  • Process Excellence & Technology Adoption:
    • Creating and maintaining SOPs, templates, and checklists to standardize quality and efficiency.
    • Evaluating and adopting cutting-edge patent databases and AI/analytics tools for better output.
  • Business Development & Thought Leadership:
    • Supporting business development efforts in pitching Search and Licensing services to new and existing clients, and participating in client meetings, RFP responses, and solutioning.
    • Representing the firm at industry forums, IP events, and in publications to build thought leadership.
