Senior Software Development Engineer, VFD

Develop and enhance the features in pumps and drives to ensure world-class products by developing embedded software in collaboration with other developers using a common software platform. Have a holistic view of team delivery and dependencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop applications based on VFDs
  • Collaborate with system architects and automation engineers to integrate VFDs with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and IoT platforms
  • Conduct application development testing, validation, and troubleshooting in lab environments

Software Architecture & Governance:

Contribute to enhancements of existing reference architecture and framework

Contribute to architecture process & governance

Identify and implement best practices with respect to architecture

Unit test development and test of new software and products to the full value chain

Quality improvement on existing software, bug fixing and test

Proactive to build and share knowledge (agile, process, technical) to team to improve together

Reach out to colleagues, guide them so the development process is enhanced as well as the products are becoming more architecture & governance : Contribute to enhancements of existing test architecture and framework

Contribute to test governance

Identify tools based on application domain complexity and needs

Process implementation

Identify and implement best practices in the team with respect to test

Product/System Development:

Support test set-up and maintenance.

Test plan / test case / test environment preparation

Drive and develop re-usable test scripts

End-to-end System Testing

Field issues support
Test automation
Configuration management
Ensure test beds are operational in line with CI framework

Your Background:

Bachelors/Masters degree in engineering with minimum 4 to maximum 15 years in VFD application engineering

Hands-on experience with VFDs specifically from industrial manufacturing companies

Strong understanding of motor types (induction, synchronous) and their operational characteristics

Proficiency in configuring VFDs for various load types and duty cycles.

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols and control system integration

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams

Required Skills & Experience:

Strong expertise in C programming and microcontroller architectures

Experience with RTOS (such as FreeRTOS, Threadx etc..)

Limited experience in embedded software development

Knowledge of debugging tools like JTAG, oscilloscope, and logic analyzer

Stay updated on the latest VFD technologies, communication protocols (Modbus, EtherNet/IP, PROFINET), and industry trends

Experience with energy efficiency projects or predictive maintenance using VFD data

Knowledge of scripting or automation tools for VFD configuration and diagnostics

Exposure to digital twin or simulation tools for motor applications.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Familiarity with software version control tools like Git

Excellent communication and documentation abilities
