Aviation Data Leader

This is a 6-month rolling contract for an Aviation Data Leader to oversee the design, implementation, and governance of data assets across the aviation business. The role requires a blend of technical expertise, business acumen, and stakeholder engagement to deliver high-value data products in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversight of the end-to-end data lifecycle management, from acquisition and modelling to cataloguing and governance.
  • Design and maintenance of complex data models that support aviation operations and analytics.
  • Management of metadata and data catalogue tools to ensure discoverability and lineage tracking.
  • Delivery of scalable and secure data products on cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Application of foundational data transformation techniques using SQL and Python to prepare data for consumption.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to define data requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Championing of data quality, integrity, and compliance across systems and processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in data management and governance across all stages of the data lifecycle.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with complex data modelling techniques.
  • Proficiency in metadata management and data cataloguing tools.
  • Demonstrated delivery of data products within cloud ecosystems (AWS or Azure).
  • Strong SQL and Python skills for data manipulation and transformation.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Customer-centric mindset with a pragmatic approach to value delivery and execution.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data excellence.
