Job Summary:

This is a senior leadership role for a Cloud Data Platform Lead who will be responsible for designing and implementing features on cloud technology products, projects, and initiatives. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in data engineering and a strong understanding of Azure Data Factory and Databricks.

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Cloud Data Platform Lead to join our team at Wesco International, Inc. As a key member of our data engineering team, you will work closely with business partners and other technical teams to design and implement features on cloud technology products, projects, and initiatives. You will also lead, mentor, and manage data engineers, collaborating with tech leads, architects, and managers as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement features on cloud technology products, projects, and initiatives.
  • Work with Scrum masters, product owners, and others to identify new features for digital products.
  • Take responsibility for the maintenance and security of existing solutions, platforms, and frameworks, designing new ones and recommending relevant upgrades and fixes.
  • Mentor and manage data engineers, working with IT leadership and business partners to design features for the cloud data platform.
  • Troubleshoot production issues of all levels and severities, tracking progress from identification through resolution.
  • Maintain a culture of open communication, collaboration, mutual respect, and productive behaviors, participating in the hiring, training, and retention of top-tier talent and mentoring team members to new and fulfilling career experiences.
  • Identify risks, barriers, efficiencies, and opportunities when thinking through development approach, presenting possible platform-wide architectural solutions based on facts, data, and best practices.
  • Explore all technical options when considering solution, including homegrown coding, third-party sub-systems, enterprise platforms, and existing technology components.
  • Actively participate in collaborative effort through all phases of software development life cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, technical design, coding, testing, release, and customer technical support.
  • Develop technical documentation, such as system context diagrams, design documents, release procedures, and other pertinent artifacts.
  • Understand lifecycle of various technology sub-systems that comprise the enterprise data platform, including current capabilities, compatibilities, limitations, and dependencies; understand and advise on optimal upgrade paths.
  • Establish relationships with key IT, QA, and other corporate partners, regularly communicating and collaborating accordingly while working on cross-functional projects or production issues.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, preferably 6-9 years.
  • 2+ years of experience in Azure data services, preferably 6-9 years.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or data-related field preferred.
  • Expertise working with databases and SQL.
  • Experience leading and mentoring small or mid-sized teams.
  • Strong working knowledge of Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
  • Strong working knowledge of code management and continuous integration systems (Azure DevOps or GitHub preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of cloud relational databases (Azure Synapse and Azure SQL preferred).
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (such as CosmosDB) preferred.
  • Any experience with Python, DAX, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, IoT technologies, PowerBI, Power Apps, SSIS, Informatica, Teradata, Oracle DB, and Snowflake preferred but not required.
  • Ability to multi-task and reprioritize in a dynamic environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Salary:

$120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on experience.
