We are looking for a highly skilled Database Performance Optimization Expert to join our team at HCLTech. As a key member of our database administration team, you will be responsible for the development, administration, and management of our PostgreSQL databases.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PostgreSQL database administration, with experience in designing and implementing new data models, optimizing database performance, and troubleshooting complex database schemas. Additionally, they should have hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server, as well as scripting skills in PowerShell or Unix/Linux.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement database migration strategies from SQL Server to PostgreSQL
  2. Troubleshoot and solve complex database schema issues
  3. Design and implement new data models while understanding existing ones
  4. Optimize database performance through administration and tuning
  5. Backup, archive, monitor, and analyze database health
  6. Streamline processes like cloning for non-production environments
  7. BUILD robust security and backup strategies
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of PostgreSQL DBA experience in an enterprise environment
  • At least 1 year of SQL Server DBA experience
  • Strong SQL skills with expertise in optimizing complex queries
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and SQL Server
  • Experience in database migration
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell or Unix/Linux
  • Knowledge of backup/recovery, disaster recovery, and performance tuning
  • Database L3 support experience
  • Jira-related database experience (good to have)
