Job Summary:
We are seeking

Cloud Database Expert

with 7-8 years

of relevant experience to oversee and optimize the performance of our Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse dedicated SQL pools, and related cloud database infrastructure. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing database performance, ensuring workload optimization, and driving strategic decisions on cloud architecture, network integration, and resource management. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic thinking to meet business objectives and ensure seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Monitor and optimize the performance of

Azure SQL Database ,

Azure Synapse dedicated SQL pools , and associated resources.
Conduct performance tuning, including query optimization, indexing, partitioning strategies, and execution plan analysis.
Identify and resolve issues such as query latency, resource contention, and data distribution inefficiencies.
Define and implement workload classification rules for efficient resource allocation across workload groups.
Optimize concurrency and resource class settings to support high workloads without service degradation.
Develop scaling strategies for databases to handle future growth effectively and cost-efficiently.
Guide architectural decisions for

Azure SQL Database , Synapse,

Data Lake ,

Blob Storage , and

Data Factory .
Configure and manage

Azure Virtual Networks (VNets)

for secure and efficient database connectivity.
Implement solutions for database redundancy, failover, and high availability.
Provide recommendations for tiering, scaling, and optimizing Azure resources based on workload requirements.
Evaluate and implement advanced features like

Hyperscale ,

elastic pools , and

geo-replication

for Azure SQL Database.
Analyse data lifecycle and recommend storage and archiving strategies.
Implement and manage security protocols, including

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) , firewall configurations, and encryption
Ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory data governance policies.
Collaborate with engineering, data science, and business teams to address data processing challenges.
Develop automation for routine tasks such as monitoring, reporting, and database scaling.
Prepare and present reports on database performance, risks, and optimization opportunities.

Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Expertise in

Azure SQL Database

and

Azure Synapse Analytics , including dedicated SQL pools.
In-depth knowledge of database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
Proficiency in

Azure Resource Management , including Data Factory, Data Lake, Blob Storage, and VNets.
Strong hands-on experience with

SQL ,

T-SQL , and

data modelling best practices .
Strategic Knowledge:
Experience in designing database architectures to meet business needs and ensure scalability.
Familiarity with optimizing cost-performance ratios for cloud database systems.
Preferred Experience:
Hands-on experience addressing query optimization, resource contention, and workload classification challenges.
Experience in automating database monitoring, scaling, and reporting tasks.
Familiarity with

Azure Monitoring ,

Log Analytics , and

Application Insights
