PostgreSQL Database Specialist Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced PostgreSQL database specialist to lead the design, implementation, and management of our scalable database solutions. This role requires a strong understanding of PostgreSQL architectures and expertise in Azure cloud services.

This is a highly visible and impactful position that will play a key role in shaping our database strategy and ensuring the success of our business.

  • Design and implement highly available and scalable PostgreSQL database solutions using Azure Cosmos DB.
  • Develop best practices for data modeling, sharding, and partitioning strategies to optimize database performance.
  • Evaluate and recommend optimal database configuration settings to meet performance and cost-effectiveness goals.
Database Performance Optimization
  • Conduct in-depth analysis and tuning of SQL queries, database configurations, and distributed table structures to improve database performance.
  • Utilize advanced monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, pg_stat_statements) to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks at the database, node, and query level.
  • Mentor junior team members on advanced query optimization techniques and database principles.
Database Security and Compliance
  • Design and implement robust database security policies, including encryption, access control, and network security.
  • Ensure all database solutions meet regulatory and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
  • Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain a secure database environment.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of PostgreSQL databases and Azure cloud services.
  • Experience with compute and serverless technologies (e.g., Lambda, Batch, API Gateway, Step Functions).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and familiarity with tools like Git.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Azure certification(s) such as Azure Certified Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Admin.
  • Experience working in agile/scrum environments.
  • Exposure to artificial intelligence and machine learning services is a plus.
