Agriculture Insurance Underwriting Role

The position of Agriculture Insurance Underwriting Specialist involves assessing, analyzing, and underwriting agriculture insurance policies. This entails evaluating risks, conducting data analysis, and creating tailored insurance solutions for agricultural needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and assess the risks associated with agriculture-related insurance applications.
  • Conduct in-depth risk assessments using historical data, climate forecasts, farm management practices, and geographic factors.
  • Design and recommend suitable coverage levels and policy terms based on risk assessments and market conditions.
  • Collaborate with loss control teams to suggest strategies to mitigate potential losses.
  • Utilize analytical tools and techniques to assess risk.
  • Work closely with clients, agents, and brokers to explain underwriting decisions and provide insight into policy coverage.
  • Ensure that all underwriting practices meet regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Collaborate with actuaries to develop pricing models for agriculture insurance products and work with claims teams to manage loss events.
  • Prepare detailed reports on underwriting activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of agriculture production, climate risks, and farm operations.
  • Have knowledge of agricultural insurance products, including crop, livestock, and farm insurance.
  • Display excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex risks.
  • Show familiarity with underwriting software and tools, including risk modelling and GIS systems.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Be able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
