US Tax Associate Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled US Tax Associate to join our team. As a key member of our tax department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our clients' tax returns.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in US tax law to develop their skills and expertise in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and timely US personal, corporate, and trust income tax returns.
  • Apply complex US tax treaty provisions to cross-border tax transactions.
  • Assist with sales tax filings and registrations, and support tax planning initiatives for cross-border transactions.
  • Draft and organize working papers for income tax filings, and aid in tax audits with the IRS.
  • Work closely with senior staff and partners on tax strategies and planning, and develop strong client relationships and understand their business needs.
  • Apply project and process management skills, particularly during tax season.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 1–2 years' experience in preparing/reviewing 1040 and 1120 tax returns.
  • Public accounting/tax experience preferred.
  • Strong client communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master of Commerce preferred).
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with tax software (e.g., Prosystems, FX, Gosystems, Drake Tax) is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent team collaboration and multitasking ability.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to continuous professional development.
