Business Accountant Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Intercompany transactions and reconciliations are key aspects of this role.
  • Tracking and reconciling AR and AP balances ensures timely settlements and follows up on outstanding balances over 60 days.
  • Investigating and resolving intercompany discrepancies ensures alignment across business units.
  • Processing billback corrections as requested by development and construction accounting teams is also part of the job.

Month-End Close & Consolidation:

  • Assisting in the monthly close process ensures intercompany transactions are properly coded, approved, and recorded.
  • Collaborating with FP&A and development accounting teams directs expenses to the correct ledger.
  • Preparing journal entries to reclassify expenses to regional ledgers is another task.
  • Ensuring accurate intercompany reporting within Oracle is crucial.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Working with tax teams ensures timely payment and billback of federal, state, and local taxes and fees.
  • Partnering with corporate accounting teams enhances enterprise-wide efficiency and standardization of intercompany processes.
  • Participating in system testing and ERP upgrades related to intercompany functions is also required.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is necessary.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in high-volume transactions in a real estate, development, or construction accounting environment.
Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of corporate and project accounting principles, GAAP, and multi-entity consolidations is essential.
  • Understanding of business operations ensures accurate expense coding.
  • Experience with real estate accounting and ERP systems like Oracle, Yardi, MRI, JD Edwards, RealPage, or SAP is desired.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data analysis, are required.
