Job Role

The Responsible Mica Initiative (RMI) is seeking an accomplished professional to assume a pivotal role in supporting the growth of its activities in India.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct gap assessments of mica processors and mines against RMI's Global Workplace Standard (GWS)
  • Develop corrective action plans for those who fall short, collaborate with processors and mine owners to implement these plans effectively
  • Closely monitor progress toward compliance with regards to RMI workplace and due diligence standards;
  • Coordinate third-party audits for RMI members in collaboration with the Executive team;
  • Liaise regularly with accredited external auditing companies;
  • Design training content for auditors on RMI standards and deliver online or in-person sessions. Develop comprehensive training session content & facilitate in-person training sessions related to responsible workplace standards at processing and mining sites (covering legal requirements, social obligations, occupational health and safety provisions, economic requirements, environmental standards, due diligence);
  • Review audit reports for quality assurance purposes;
  • Analyze data from audits and present findings to the team and members;
  • Support the Workplace Standard and Sustainability Manager in Jharkhand if necessary;
  • Share updates on relevant laws with the team as needed, closely monitoring changes to report them promptly to the Executive team, RMI's governance bodies and beneficiaries.
District Level Engagement in Rajasthan (20%)
  • Nurture relationships with local government officials, ensuring they remain informed about RMI's progress and planned activities;
Requirements

  • Proven problem-solving abilities and capacity to drive results through effective teamwork;
  • Able to work independently and proactively;
  • Fluency in English and Hindi;
  • High level of integrity and commitment to ethical standards;
  • Persistent; Educator; Team player;
  • Strong reporting skills;
  • Proficient in Excel and online assessment tools;
  • Effective presentation skills (Power Point)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Education & Desired Experience:

  • Master's degree (or equivalent) in International Development, Business, Engineer/Mining
  • Background in Social Auditing or a related field
  • Experience in supply chain social and environmental auditing
  • Knowledge of sustainability standards and mining standards
  • Understanding of Indian labor laws and Industrial EHS requirements;
  • Multi-stakeholder projects' coordination experience;
  • Ideal candidates will have experience within the mining industry;
  • Facilitation skills;
  • Knowledge of Rajasthan and/or experience working with stakeholders there is advantageous;
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in related roles.
