Job Title: Academic Specialist

About the Role:
  • We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to join our team as an Academic Specialist.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality workshops and courses for teachers in STEM fields using progressive pedagogical and adult learning methodologies.
  • They will also prepare capacity building program plans in STEM and provide inputs for the preparation of the academic calendar.
  • In addition, the Academic Specialist will coordinate with other subject teams for planning and executing the STEM programs.
  • They will analyse feedback from teachers and training participants to inform subsequent trainings.
  • The role requires providing direction for the STEM program in alignment with current educational policies and guidelines.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • The Academic Specialist will develop detailed program frameworks, teaching plans, and workshop modules based on national and international reference material.
  • They will create program materials for short-term and intensive courses.
  • The specialist will strengthen the Resource Centre by developing subject-specific resources including teacher manuals and interactive models.
  • Regularly updating developed resources based on conducted research and academic reading is also a key responsibility.
  • Research and Development:
  • The Academic Specialist will develop research-based specialized content and instructions to achieve workshop goals.
  • Conducting training need assessments and end-line evaluations to check program effectiveness is also required.
  • The specialist will conceptualise, design, and conduct research to enhance program quality and effectiveness.
  • Producing academic writings in the subject domain is an essential part of the role.
  • School Visits and Direct Intervention in Schools:
  • The Academic Specialist will regularly observe classroom sessions to understand program impact.
  • Planning and providing on-site support to selected teachers in schools is also a key responsibility.
  • Engaging with a cohort of teachers to understand factors required for effective change in teaching practices is required.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • The Academic Specialist will document and report progress on allocated tasks.
  • Preparing and submitting training reports, classroom observation reports, and events reports is also required.

Requirements: 3-6 years of experience in capacity-building programs in Teacher Education. Qualification: M.Sc. (Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry), B.Ed or equivalent degree.
