This role involves working as a senior engineer within an engineering team, focused on project work and collaboration.

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our team. As a Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the design process, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring timely delivery of projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare feasibility studies to meet client requirements and review them with the local project lead.
  • Work with the team to develop design specifications that meet employer needs.
  • Collaborate with the local project lead to define project scope and ensure timely delivery.
  • Lead detailed design activities, including complex calculations and coordination, in accordance with standard codes and quality assurance procedures.
  • Review and monitor production of calculations and ensure accurate documentation.
  • Manage project contracts documents and coordinate input from team members.
  • Lead the design process and encourage cost-effective solutions within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure adherence to document control and QA processes, and coach junior staff in their usage.
  • Manage a team of engineers and technicians.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience in building structure design, preferably in a similar role or with a good track record.
  • Excellent presentation skills and fluency in English with technical terminology knowledge.
  • Familiarity with structural software such as RAM, CSC, ETABS, SAFE, and STAAD.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Demonstrate effective management, communication, and technical skills for both team and individual work.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Membership in an accredited engineering body.
  • Possession of British Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is desirable.
