Job Title: Senior Mortgage Underwriter

  • To evaluate and assess complex loan applications within defined guidelines, making informed decisions to approve or recommend for higher authority.
  • Underwrite proposals in line with laid down policies and procedures to honour SLAs and manage business volumes.
  • Engage in personal discussions with clients to establish creditworthiness, ensure completion of required documents, and conduct telephonic, field, and collateral visits.
  • Assess income to obligation ratios, loan to value ratios, and understand the rational behind calculations and their impact on loan performance over long tenures.
  • Maintain portfolio MIS, delinquency MIS, and other operations-related MIS of the cluster, regularly reporting the same.
  • Foster effective relationships with third parties to deliver the best outcomes for clients.
  • Take ownership of client queries, leveraging industry knowledge and experience to overcome challenges and solve problems.
  • Exceed service quality standards and strive for continuous process improvement.
  • Critically review credit proposals to identify industry, business, financial, management, and facility structure risks contained in the proposal.
  • Ensure collateral and credit risk mitigation to enable approving authorities to make informed decisions.
  • Facilitate quick turnaround times for credit lending proposals, comprising loans against property and home loans, in close liaison with sales teams.
  • Ongoingly review credit exposures to ensure they remain bankable.
  • Document proposals critically and monitor client and collateral creditworthiness from pre-sanction to post-disbursement phases, undertaking risk mitigation steps as needed while ensuring adherence to legal and documentation norms and policies.
  • Manage the credit underwriting function of the branch, facilitating quick turnaround of credit lending proposals in collaboration with local credit analysts and sales teams.
  • Follow up and ensure recovery of quick mortality cases between 12-18 months.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Graduate degree; Master's/Post Graduate degree preferred. Chartered Accountant (CA) or Master's in Business Administration (MBA) certifications are desirable.
