Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled VP - Traded Risk Assurance to join our team at HSBC. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the definition and scoping of the Traded Credit Risk Assurance function, promoting and implementing synergies and efficiencies while securing an optimal and best-in-class control environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development of the Traded Credit Risk Assurance function, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Challenge first-line control and risk owners to ensure effective risk management activities, including the monitoring of compliance with minimum requirements.
  • Provide subject matter expertise, advice, and guidance to Risk and Control Owners, ensuring effective challenge and monitoring of risk and control profiles.
  • Work closely with Internal Audit to understand the outcomes of their reviews and their impact on the control environment.
  • Recommend Risk and Control Assessment (RCA) scoping and challenge where this is not appropriately applied.
Requirements
  • CA/MBA in Finance or a similar relevant field.
  • At least 5 years of work experience in a Big4/Financial services firm in the area of internal audit, assurance, or traded risk management.
  • Good working knowledge of counterparty credit risk reporting requirements and regulations, across standardized and internal model approaches.
  • Good understanding of various counterparty credit risk reporting metrics (EAD, PFE, EE, EPE, EEPE) and their calculation.
  • Practical experience of counterparty credit risk management &/or control within a financial institution.
  • Ability to provide independent and effective review and challenge of key counterparty credit risk processes, including regulatory reporting.
  • Good understanding of assurance techniques obtained in a Big 4 accounting firm or internal audit department of a financial institution.
  • Ability to challenge stakeholders at various levels and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to take complex requirements and document them in an easy-to-read manner.
