Senior Database Administrator Role

The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless management, maintenance, and migration of secure databases across Cloud and On-Prem platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, install, tune, deploy, secure, migrate, and upgrade DBMS installations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor database performance, identify, and resolve issues proactively to minimize downtime.
  • Migrate databases across Cloud and On-Prem platforms with minimal or no disruption to service.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to developers on design, code review, SQL query performance tuning, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish HA/DR setups, replication, database encryption, indexing, and filegroup management.
  • Regularly assess database system performance and capacity constraints to inform proactive optimization strategies.

Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of database programming languages (MSSQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
  • Familiarity with database backup-recovery, security, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Understanding of database concepts – ACID properties, normal forms, DDL/DML, transaction logging, log shipping, mirroring, high-availability, etc.
  • Experience in developing migration plans to transition on-premises databases to Cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
  • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to adapt to new processes or technology changes within the organization.
