Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Summary:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring the well-being of employees and protecting the environment. This position involves developing and implementing policies and practices to identify and mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments.

The EHS Specialist will investigate accidents and environmental incidents, liaise with engineers, management, and regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence. They will also provide advice and training on safety protocols, conduct audits to ensure compliance with standards related to environmental and employee health and safety, and maintain relationships with stakeholders impacted by the organization's environmental performance.

  • Reports to the HSE Lead and supports the safety performance of the plant at regular intervals
  • Conducts daily EHS patrolling and unsafe acts and conditions reporting with actions
  • Handles matters related to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents and diseases to inspectorate of factories
  • Facilitates accident investigation and implementation of corrective action procedures
  • Maintains all records as necessary relating to first aid, Medical Treatment cases, Loss time Injury, Disabling Injury, and Fatality
  • Coordinates unit safety committee meetings and organizes campaigns, competitions, contests, and other activities to develop and maintain worker interest in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and procedures
  • Ensures MSDS availability of all chemicals used in the plant and disseminates information to all employees
  • Audits firefighting and first aid equipment periodically
  • Discusses reports on safety, environmental, and occupational health surveys, safety audits, risk assessment, emergency and disaster management plans, and implementation of recommendations made in the reports

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
  • Additional qualification: Advance Post Diploma in Industrial Safety
  • 2-5 years of experience in the HSE domain in Manufacturing, Process Safety, construction Safety, People Management, and MS Office, Excel, PPT proficiency
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written Gujarati and English languages is required
