Insurance and Taxation Specialist
Job DescriptionThis role involves the coordination and management of all insurance-related activities, including new policy procurement, renewals, endorsements, and claim settlements. Key responsibilities include maintaining and updating the insurance register for all policies across the organization, following up with insurance companies, brokers, and internal departments for timely issuance of policies and claim documentation, and ensuring accurate accounting entries for insurance premiums, claims received, and related provisions.
The position also involves Timely deduction and deposit of Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) as per applicable laws, preparation and filing of TDS returns within statutory deadlines, and maintaining proper records of challans, certificates, and reconciliations with Form 26AS. Additionally, addressing vendor queries and ensuring PAN compliance to avoid short deduction or disallowance is a crucial part of this role.
Furthermore, the Insurance and Taxation Specialist will be responsible for recording and processing day-to-day accounting transactions, including invoices, payments, journal entries, and petty cash. This involves assisting in the preparation of monthly reconciliation statements for banks, vendors, and ledgers, supporting month-end closing activities, including accruals and provision entries, and ensuring timely and accurate documentation of all accounting records for audit purposes.
Required Skills & QualificationsTo excel in this role, you should possess a solid knowledge of insurance policies, terms, and claim procedures. A working knowledge of TDS provisions under the Income Tax Act and e-filing procedures is also essential. Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel is required, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. The ability to work under deadlines and maintain confidentiality is also a must.
Education-wise, a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is necessary. Relevant experience in insurance coordination, taxation, and accounting ranging from 2–4 years is also required. Familiarity with statutory compliance and audit requirements is desirable.
