Key Responsibilities
  • Messaging Infrastructure Management: Ensure the reliability, performance, and security of enterprise messaging systems supporting batch processes and applications.
  • MQ Administration & Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ Series and FTE on z/OS, including queue managers, queues, channels, and cluster configurations.
  • Upgrade Planning & Execution: Plan and execute upgrades of MQ Series and FTE components on z/OS, ensuring minimal disruption to application and infrastructure teams.
  • Security Compliance: Implement and manage MQ security protocols, including TLS/SSH certificates, RACF integration, and security exits, to ensure compliance with organizational and industry standards.
  • System Integration & Automation: Support integration of MQ with z/OS subsystems, including CICS, DB2, and IMS, and develop automation scripts using REXX, JCL, or Assembler for MQ operations.
  • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Design and implement MQ Queue Sharing Groups and RESLEVEL configurations for high availability, and contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover strategies.
  • Troubleshooting & Support: Collaborate with developers, infrastructure teams, and support staff to troubleshoot and resolve MQ-related issues, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing within the team.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of MQ configurations, procedures, and best practices, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency through automation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical Expertise: 8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM MQ on z/OS, including MQ Queue Sharing Groups, FTE configurations, and MQ monitoring tools, with proficiency in COBOL, REXX, JCL, and related language tools.
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in hybrid team environments.

Preferred Certifications: IBM MQ Administrator Certification (or equivalent relevant certification).
