Sales Tax Compliance Expert

As a senior-level professional, this position is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of sales and use tax compliance across our operations.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the entire lifecycle of US sales and use tax compliance, ensuring accurate and timely filing of returns across multiple states and jurisdictions.
- Stay up-to-date with legislative and regulatory changes in US indirect taxes, assessing their impact on our business.
- Provide expert tax advice to internal stakeholders on customer invoicing, pricing structures, and procurement tax implications.
- Collaborate with IT and operations teams to ensure system tax settings are accurate and updated.
- Assist in process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce risks.
- Maintain thorough documentation and controls to support tax positions and audit readiness.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in US sales & use tax, including filing and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state tax laws and exemptions.
- Experience handling state audits and notices.
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and accountability.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in multi-state US indirect taxation, be a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and have hands-on experience with sales tax filings, audits, and tax automation tools like Avalara or Vertex.
