Category Manager Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our FMCG team in the assigned region. As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of 8-10 members and overseeing the buying and movement of goods from vendors to distribution centers and stores.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in FMCG sales, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in similar roles. They should possess excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Additionally, they should be willing to travel across locations within the region and PAN India.

The ideal candidate will have a graduate or postgraduate degree in a relevant field, such as MBA. Experience in General Trade is preferred, but not mandatory. The ability to manage a large team and provide training and guidance to team members is essential.

  • Manage a team of 8-10 members for buying National & Regional FMCG brands.
  • Conduct classroom and on-the-job training for team members, grooming and developing them.
  • Cordinate and address challenges in buying and movement of goods from vendor to DC and DC to stores for smooth business.
  • Meet key vendor partners for negotiations, forecasting, and category development initiatives.
  • Work closely with Store Operations, Supply Chain, core Purchase, and Central purchase teams for maximizing off-takes and best promotions in stores.
  • Discuss and close monthly, quarterly plans with FMCG vendors, including demand planning, promotions, and smooth supplies to stores.
  • Train and groom Purchase officers and Asst Purchase managers on the job and in classroom trainings.
  • Ensure availability of goods in DC and stores, maintain competitive pricing, and be willing to travel across locations within the region and PAN India.
