The role of Technical Director is a pivotal position within the organization. This position will be at the tribe level.

We are seeking candidates with proven experience in building environments and processes to support high-performing engineering teams in a fast-paced company environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support, develop, and coach a team of engineers with varying experience levels through effective one-on-one meetings and 360-degree feedback while working closely with technical leads.
  • Contribute positively to the development culture, fostering a safe and inclusive environment for all.
  • Sponsor a learning environment for squads and act as a mentor for up-and-coming leaders.
  • Partner with delivery leadership to ensure teams are properly staffed and able to be highly effective.
  • Contribute to setting and monitoring squad OKRs, ensuring alignment with tribe and company-level objectives.
  • Drive and be accountable for technical delivery and work with your team on strategy and execution, including being an advocate for the team's service capability roadmap.
  • Facilitate collaboration between engineering and product to tackle complex challenges across the platform, including setting SLAs and SLOs for microservices owned by the team.
  • Maintain a flat management structure where possible, favoring building networks over hierarchies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience managing, motivating, coaching, and mentoring Squad Leads/teams of 5 people and above.
  • Experience in Java programming language.
  • Work experience in high-growth technology functions.
  • Experience embedding engineering best practices and creating a customer-centric culture while maintaining high delivery efficiencies.
  • Effective facilitation of technical discussions in the team and confidence in challenging approaches when they don't seem right.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to deliver information at all levels and influence when needed.
  • A self-motivated, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
