As a key professional in electronic and electromechanical component lifecycle management, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and compliance of components used in smart meter hardware. Your proactive vendor management skills and knowledge of component qualification processes will be crucial to supporting continuous product innovation and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Component Selection & Qualification
    • Ensure compliance with industry standards by conducting thorough audits and validations.
    • Validate alternate components to reduce supply risk and optimize cost through rigorous analysis and testing.
    • Develop and implement automated test setups to ensure the integrity of various hardware devices.
    • Stay updated on emerging component technologies and recommend adoption where feasible to drive business growth.
  • Lifecycle Management
    • Maintain a robust and up-to-date component database with accurate lifecycle status (Active, NRND, EOL).
    • Monitor obsolescence trends and develop proactive redesign or sourcing strategies to minimize disruptions.
    • Collaborate closely with design teams to ensure smooth migration during component phase-outs and maintain product continuity.
  • Supplier & Vendor Coordination
    • Collaborate with procurement to qualify vendors and negotiate component terms that meet business requirements.
    • Audit suppliers regularly to ensure they meet quality, compliance, and reliability standards.
    • Build and maintain long-term supplier relationships to secure business continuity and drive cost savings.
  • Cost & Risk Management
    • Optimize bill-of-materials (BOM) cost without compromising on product quality and compliance through data-driven decision-making.
    • Assess and mitigate risks related to shortages, geopolitical issues, and logistic challenges to ensure business resilience.
    • Support multi-sourcing strategies for critical components to minimize reliance on single suppliers.
  • Documentation & Compliance
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for RoHS, REACH, and environmental compliance.
    • Support internal and external audits with complete and accurate records to ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Ensure cybersecurity and data integrity guidelines are followed for component traceability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (master's preferred). A relevant postgraduate qualification is advantageous.
  • 5–10 years of experience in component engineering, hardware design, or related fields. Experience in smart meter manufacturing or allied electronic manufacturing industries is highly beneficial.
  • Proven track record of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, as well as excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
