Data Systems Architect

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Systems Architect to join our team. As a Senior Database Administrator (Big Data), you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale data systems.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the performance, security, and reliability of our data platforms, including Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters, Apache Kafka, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems.

You will work closely with our IT Manager to establish database security structures, Sox compliance, and implement effective monitoring of enterprise systems.

Your expertise in relational or NoSQL database technologies, experience with Big Data Technologies, and strong understanding of business impacts of issues will enable you to make informed decisions and drive solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement data systems architecture
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible
  • Manage and maintain Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) clusters, ensuring high availability and performance
  • Administer and monitor Apache Kafka (open-source) clusters
  • Perform database administration for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the data stack
  • Provide 24x7 on call support
Requirements:
  1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or another relevant field AND a minimum of 6 years relevant experience
  2. Fluency in English is required
  3. Experience with Relational or NoSQL database technologies
  4. Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively
  5. Strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  6. Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
  7. Experience with Big Data Technologies supporting a broad variety of solutions
