Key Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development of measurement systems, locator strategies and tolerance specifications for Body in White components and exterior trims, ensuring seamless integration with styling and manufacturing requirements.
  • Develop and implement robust measurement systems from part fabrication to complete BiW assembly.
  • Analyze the functional requirements of Body in White and create measurement strategies for module fitment.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align tolerance concepts and ensure a cohesive approach.
  • Conduct 1D, 2D or 3D tolerance stack up studies during development phase to identify potential production risks and provide effective solutions through measurement strategy, alignment strategy, tolerance specification, assembly sequence or design modification.
  • Utilize 3DCS simulation software to replicate the production process digitally, applying correct probability distributions in relation to manufacturing processes and validate the robustness of the concept.
  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality results in each project phase.
  • Develop Gap & Flush plans and concepts to guarantee visual quality of vehicles.
  • Discuss cross-functional team feedback and provide tailored solutions.
  • Align sub-module integration concepts to ensure accurate fitment and meet production planning demands.
  • Promote efficient closures integration concepts in line with gap & flush plans to fulfill requirements.

Requirements:

  • Profound understanding of 3D tolerance simulation tools, with preference for 3DCS.
  • Deep expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with perceived quality principles.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes in Body in White.
  • Understanding of assembly operations in automobiles.
  • Working proficiency in NX CAD software.

Experience:

6-8 years' experience in the automotive industry, focusing on Body in White domain and Exterior/Interior.
