Mainframe Development Position

This is a challenging opportunity for experienced Mainframe Programmers to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of applications and systems that run on mainframe computers.

Job Overview

Mainframe Programmers are responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications using COBOL programming language. The role involves working with legacy systems, performing analysis, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL.
  • Analyze, test, debug, and troubleshoot mainframe software applications.
  • Create technical documentation and user manuals to support mainframe applications.
  • Work closely with other developers, business partners, and stakeholders to facilitate technical design, decision-making, problem-solving, implementation, and strategic planning.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in mainframe development.
  • Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for the design, build, implement, and stabilize phases of projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in mainframe application development using COBOL and other programming languages.
  • Strong knowledge of mainframe operating systems, such as z/OS and z/VSE.
  • Experience with tools such as CICS, JCL, VSAM, SAS, and DB2.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
