**Job Title:** Research and Development Engineer/Scientist II
**Job Overview**We seek a highly skilled Research and Development Engineer/Scientist II to develop and deliver reactor, kinetic, and process models that meet the needs of R&D, Engineering, and Sales Support.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemical engineering with experience in modeling, process simulation, process development, or reaction engineering. Familiarity with Six-Sigma tools and their application is required.
The Research and Development Engineer/Scientist II will be responsible for:
- Developing Yield Estimating Tools that meet the needs of Engineering and Sales Support.
- Utilizing understanding of kinetics, mass transfer, and reaction engineering to make innovative contributions to ESS technology development efforts.
- Developing enhanced work processes and modeling techniques.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, good mastery of process simulation and numerical methods, and excellent computer programming skills (Fortran, C#, Visual Basic). They should be high-energy, creative, and self-starters who demonstrate technical excellence and are comfortable working in a team environment.
**Candidate Requirements**A PhD in Chemical Engineering with 2+ years of experience in modeling, process simulation, process development, or reaction engineering, OR A Master's degree in Chemical Engineering together with a minimum of 5 years of experience in modeling, process simulation, process development, or reaction engineering.
**Additional Candidate Qualifications**Excellent communication skills to understand and document customer requirements and to effectively convey recommendations to other disciplines. Familiarity with Six-Sigma tools and their application is required. Knowledge of UOP technologies: Refining/Petrochemicals/Gas Processing applications is also necessary. Good mastery of process simulation and numerical methods to solve ODEs, PDEs, and perform optimization is essential. Good statistics background with emphasis on non-linear parameter estimation and experimental design is required. Excellent computer programming skills (Fortran, C#, Visual Basic) are also needed.
