Audiologist Role Description:

  • Conducting comprehensive hearing assessments and diagnostic evaluations to diagnose auditory conditions.

Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, Audiologists are essential members of multidisciplinary teams that provide patient care. Audiology is the scientific study of human hearing and all aspects of ear function and dysfunction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administering hearing tests and using various assessment tools to identify issues affecting an individual's ability to hear.
  • Developing personalized treatment plans for patients experiencing difficulties related to their auditory system.
  • Collaborating with Speech-Language Pathologists in working towards meeting goals with children or adults in need of communication therapy.
  • Consulting with patients' families about specific strategies and exercises that can help improve their hearing health.
  • Maintaining accurate records of test results and patient interactions.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Audiology (Au.D.) from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (ASHA).
  • Graduate-level training in audiology and speech-language pathology; including hands-on experience with behavioral observations, anatomical dissection, and didactic instruction.
  • Obtaining state licensure and certification as a Certified Audiologist (Audi.C.).
