Animal Welfare Investigator

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for conducting thorough investigations into animal cruelty and exploitation, with a focus on various industries such as food, clothing, entertainment, and labor. The investigator will travel extensively to gather evidence, document conditions, and assess the impact of human activities on animals.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive investigations using research and investigative methods, identifying patterns and trends in animal cruelty.
• Travel to locations for extended periods to gather evidence, often working independently and maintaining confidentiality.
• Document conditions and use of animals through photography and videography, providing visual evidence to support findings.
• Assess evidence with in-house experts and counsel, developing conclusions and recommendations for improvement.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for public release, communicating findings effectively to various stakeholders.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to legal procedures throughout the investigation process.

Requirements:

• Experience in investigative journalism or a related field, with a strong track record of producing high-quality investigative work.
• Basic veterinary knowledge or experience, enabling the investigator to understand animal behavior and welfare.
• Knowledge of animal protection laws and rights issues, including relevant legislation and regulations.
• Fluency in English and Hindi, facilitating communication with diverse stakeholders and sources.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality, handling sensitive information with discretion.
