As a Lead Data Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing large-scale data pipelines, leading delivery teams, and setting technical direction. You will work closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to drive the development of scalable and reliable data platforms.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Technical leadership: Lead cross-functional teams, manage dependencies and risks, unblock engineers, and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Architecture & direction: Define target states, data contracts, and build/buy calls. Author RFCs and drive cost/performance guardrails and reliability patterns.
  • Data pipelines: Design, build, and operate reliable batch and change-driven pipelines. Schedule/orchestrate jobs, handle schema evolution and failures gracefully.

Key qualifications include:

  • Proven leadership experience in data engineering and DevOps/IaC.
  • Strong SQL fundamentals and solid RDBMS knowledge.
  • Experience with cloud providers (Azure or AWS).
  • Knowledge of workflow orchestration tools (Prefect, Airflow/Dagster).
  • APIs and auth experience (REST patterns, pagination, validation, rate limiting).
