Project Estimator

We are seeking a highly experienced Project Estimator to join our team.

Job Overview

The ideal candidate will have over 10+ years of experience in project estimation within the construction or infrastructure domain.

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for various construction projects.
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and measurement surveys for materials and works.
  • Manage and evaluate contractor quotations, bids, and contracts to ensure competitive pricing and adherence to specifications.
  • Monitor project costs and progress, identifying and reporting any cost overruns or risks promptly.
  • Perform value engineering exercises to optimize cost without compromising on quality and safety.
  • Administer contracts, including variation orders, claims, and dispute resolution in line with contractual terms.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, project managers, and suppliers for seamless project delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with university policies, statutory regulations, and industry standards.
  • Prepare regular cost reports and forecasts for senior management.
  • Mentor and guide junior project staff.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of proven experience as a Project Estimator, preferably in educational or institutional projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and contract law.
  • Proficiency in project estimation software and tools (e.g., MS Excel).
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional certification (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
  • Experience working in a university or institutional infrastructure environment.
