Backend Engineer

We're seeking a skilled Backend Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and building scalable, efficient, and secure backend systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing, building, and maintaining backend components, APIs, and integrations.
  • Helping to architect data flows across various databases, caches, and storage solutions.
  • Implementing secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  • Supporting search and vector ranking algorithms, as well as external API integrations.
  • Setting up monitoring and observability tools to ensure system performance and reliability.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend engineering and system architecture.
  • Strong grasp of data flows, infrastructure, and integration patterns.
  • Proficiency with REST APIs, backend/frontend integration, and secrets hygiene.
  • Ability to handle PostgreSQL, caching, object storage, and streaming systems.
  • Experience with containerization, serverless environments, CDNs, and WAFs.
  • Familiarity with hybrid/vector search and ranking approaches.
  • Working knowledge of PII/PHI/GDPR handling in production systems.
  • Experience with data modeling, ML pipelines, or applied machine learning in production systems.
  • Understanding of ranking, scoring, or recommendation systems is a plus.
