RKD - Patent Associate - Electrical

Job Description:

We are seeking a Patent Associate with a strong background in Electrical Engineering to join our team at R. K. Dewan & Co. in Pune and Mumbai. The successful candidate will have a good understanding of intellectual property laws and be able to effectively manage various tasks and responsibilities.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct patent and non-patent literature searches, including prior art, freedom to operate, invalidation, and other searches.
  2. Provide insightful analysis of search results from various sources by preparing and delivering timely patent search reports based on established protocols.
  3. Draft provisional and complete specifications for patent applications.
  4. Attend examination reports and office actions, providing technical arguments (written and verbal) and attending hearings at the Indian Patent Office.
  5. Assist in patent oppositions and provide technical support to the litigation team through research and analysis of recent cases.

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Attend IPR conferences in India and abroad and represent the firm effectively.
  2. Conduct seminars, workshops, and orientation programs to elicit interest towards the firm and create IP awareness.
  3. Contribute to writing articles on behalf of the firm in various journals and magazines.
  4. Participate in and conduct internal knowledge/resource sharing sessions.
  5. Contribute to the firm's newsletter.
  6. Assist in tracking and meeting deadlines set by senior management.
  7. Utilize and update data in the firm's IP Management System.

Positions at the Group Leader level are client-facing, and Group Leaders will report to Senior Management. Individuals with lesser experience will report to the Group Leaders in their particular technical field.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  1. Graduate/Postgraduate/Doctorate in Electricals with a good academic record.
  2. In-depth knowledge of IPR or two years of experience in IPR.
  3. Preference will be given to Registered Patent Agents.
  4. Minimum three years of experience in the field of IPR for the 'Group Leader' position.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office and required drawing packages.
  6. Excellent command over the English language (written and verbal).
  7. Candidates with excellent engineering domain knowledge and impeccable English language skills, with little or no patent knowledge, but with an interest in making a career in IPR, are also welcome to apply.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. Candidates will be required to sign a contract for a minimum period of three years.
  2. Salary and other terms shall be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
