About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle DBA to lead the administration, optimization, and security of our Oracle database landscape, including mission-critical systems supporting enterprise applications.

  • The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Oracle database technologies, high availability architecture, and hands-on experience with SAP-Oracle integration or collaboration with SAP Basis teams.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot multiple Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c, 21c) in production, development, and QA environments.
  2. Perform installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations (including platform and cross-version migrations).
  3. Optimize database performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and advanced tuning techniques.
  4. Manage high availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
  5. Implement and test robust backup/recovery strategies using RMAN and/or third-party tools.
  6. Automate administrative tasks and reporting using shell scripting, PL/SQL, or Python.
  7. Collaborate with SAP Basis team to support SAP systems using Oracle, including performance tuning and backup coordination.
  8. Ensure database compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards.
  9. Participate in capacity planning, infrastructure scaling, and cloud database strategy.
  10. Lead database initiatives such as cloud adoption, consolidation, and disaster recovery planning.
  11. Provide 24x7 support for critical systems and assist in root cause analysis for database-related incidents.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  2. 6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in large-scale, enterprise-grade environments.
  3. Strong hands-on expertise in:
  4. Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN
  5. Performance tuning (SQL, instance-level)
  6. Backup/recovery and storage management
  7. Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and diagnostics
  8. Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments, scripting, and automation.
  9. Experience in both on-prem and cloud-based Oracle DB setups.
  10. Hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure Cloud
Desirable Qualifications
  1. SAP environment experience:
  2. Familiarity with SAP systems using Oracle (ECC, BW, PI, etc.)
  3. Working knowledge of how Oracle integrates with SAP NetWeaver architecture
  4. Ability to support SAP Basis teams in database-related operations.
  5. Experience supporting SAP upgrades and migrations involving Oracle.
  6. Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
  7. Experience with Oracle on OCI / AWS RDS / Azure.
  8. Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other RDBMS platforms.
  9. Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines involving DB deployments.
Soft Skills
  1. Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
  2. Effective communication and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  3. Leadership experience in database projects and mentorship of junior DBAs.
  4. Proactive, process-oriented mindset with strong documentation habits.
  5. Availability for on-call and off-hours support during maintenance windows or go-lives.
