About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team at Nielsen. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in planning, deploying, and managing our production servers on AWS, as well as deploying services and managing Kubernetes clusters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and deploy production servers on AWS, ensuring high availability, scalability, and efficiency.
  2. Deploy services and manage Kubernetes clusters, ensuring seamless integration with our infrastructure.
  3. Monitor our infrastructure and support our development teams, ensuring timely issue resolution.
  4. Develop, automate, and enhance applications built on AWS, leveraging best practices and industry standards.
  5. Lead discussions with developers, driving technical and architectural decisions relating to DevOps and AWS best practices.
  6. Deploy Infrastructure as Code (IAC) to improve platform availability, scalability, and efficiency.
  7. Develop and enrich our platforms by leveraging open source software, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  8. Design and implement low-latency networking products, ensuring optimal performance and scalability.
  9. Ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of production systems, adhering to industry standards and best practices.
  10. Build automated tests, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to ensure quality and stability of various services.
  11. System troubleshooting and problem-solving across the platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  12. Suggest and implement best practices and architecture improvements, driving continuous innovation and excellence.
  13. Utilize best-in-class code automation strategies, ensuring efficient and effective development workflows.
  14. Contribute to better cost management through efficient utilization of compute and storage resources, aligning with business objectives.
  15. Document processes and maintain software development records, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience with AWS Cloud Services in a 24x7 uptime environment.
  • Good knowledge of Linux and shell scripting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Intensive knowledge of core DevOps concepts and tools, including source control, CI/CD, IAC, monitoring, alerting, and logging.
  • Extensive proficiency with Java, Python, Scala, and SQL, including development to production.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS Cloud Computing, including scalability and optimization.
  • Knowledge of orchestration frameworks and containerization, including Airflow and Docker.
  • Experience with Big Data, including Hive, Spark, and Trino.
  • Experience with system monitoring tools, analyzing, and resolving complex infrastructure and application deployment issues.
