Job Description

We're seeking a talented data scientist to join our team and contribute to the development of large-scale models that predict job performance more accurately than human interviews.

Mercor's platform powers hiring at top AI labs and has achieved rapid growth, scaling from $1M to $100M in ARR within 11 months. Our focus is on building AI for hiring that is efficient, accurate, and fair.

As a data scientist, you will be responsible for developing analyses and experiments that impact core product metrics, including match quality, time-to-hire, candidate experience, and revenue. You will also define north-star and feature-level metrics for ranking, interview analytics, and payouts systems.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop data-driven insights to inform business decisions and drive growth.
  • Design and run A/B tests and quasi-experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of different approaches.
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve data quality and latency.
  • Create source-of-truth dashboards and lightweight data models for self-service answers.
  • Prototype quick models to enhance matching and scoring.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should have:

Technical Skills:

  • Strong SQL skills; Python proficiency for analysis.
  • Experience with experiment design and causal thinking.

Personal Qualities:

  • Crisp communication with engineers, PMs, and leadership.
  • Able to iterate quickly and frame questions, test, and ship results in days.
  • Value clarity in communication as much as p-values.
