Job Description

We are seeking a highly qualified Faculty member to join our esteemed team at GITAM Deemed University, specifically for the School of Architecture. This role involves teaching courses on sustainable design and development modules, contributing significantly to the next generation's growth as responsible architects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing curriculum plans that foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensure student engagement. Furthermore, they will provide tutoring and academic counselling to students, maintain relevant records, and assess coursework. The Faculty will collaborate with colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. As a key member of the department, the individual will typically report to a department head, offering intellectual leadership while making significant contributions to the field.

  • Evaluating and grading students' work, including studio assignments.
  • Preparing and delivering lectures to undergraduate or graduate students on topics such as microeconomics, macroeconomics, and specializations in finance, public, labor, and international economics, as well as other assigned courses. Initiating, facilitating, and moderating classroom discussions, guiding students through various topics.
  • Conducting research in a specific area of expertise and publishing findings in professional journals, books, or electronic media.

Research focuses: Writing articles, books, or original materials in areas of expertise. Planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, and instructional methods. Assessing the effectiveness of educational programs. Developing instructional objectives: Supervising undergraduate or graduate teaching, internship, and research work. Overseeing student research or internship projects.

The ideal candidate should hold a PhD from an accredited university and registration in the Council of Architecture (COA).

Requirements

Based on qualifications and experience, the selected candidate will be considered for the following positions:

  • Assistant Professor: A first-class Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or a related field, accompanied by a Master's degree in Architecture (M.Arch) or equivalent, along with one year of experience. Exceptions may apply to candidates holding an M.Arch degree from a recognized university.
  • Associate Professor: A first-class Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and an M.Arch or equivalent, or a combination of degrees leading to a PhD in Architecture, alongside eight years of experience. This includes three years of full-time teaching experience.
  • Faculty / Five years of Teaching experience as Visiting Faculty or Ten years of Practice experience. Relaxation in experience may be granted to candidates holding an M.Arch degree and a PhD in Architecture from a recognized university.
  • Professor: A first-class Bachelor's Degree in Architecture and an M.Arch or equivalent, or a combination of degrees leading to a PhD in Architecture, with thirteen years of experience. This includes five years of teaching experience as an Associate Professor or fifteen years of practice experience, followed by five years of teaching experience as a Visiting Faculty.

Candidates with an international education or professional background will be viewed favorably.
