Sous Chef Position

The primary objective of this role is to optimize operational efficiency by continually analyzing quality and cost of food production.

Job Summary:

This position requires a highly skilled culinary professional with strong leadership abilities to manage kitchen operations, maintain high-quality standards, and ensure exceptional guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain efficient time management and control expenses to optimize profit margins.
  • Provide ongoing training to subordinates to ensure adherence to corporate standards and enhance their skills.
  • Guarantee safe, high-quality food products and exceptional guest satisfaction through consistent quality control measures.
  • Develop and implement systems, procedures, rules, objectives, and timelines set by the organization to achieve goals efficiently.
  • Enhance service and product quality within a specialized area of expertise, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and provide assistance when needed to support team members in achieving their objectives.
  • Accept and work towards achieving goals set by others within agreed parameters, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
  • Mentor, counsel, coach, and support subordinates to boost morale and personal esteem, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Ensure fair and unbiased treatment of crew members and promote a positive team atmosphere, fostering open communication and collaboration.
  • Adhere to menus, recipes, methods, and operational specifics provided by the organization to maintain consistency and quality.
  • Seek guidance from senior management when necessary to ensure informed decision-making.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Advanced culinary skills, leadership experience, and a strong background in quality hotels and restaurants to drive success in this role.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in the profession, with at least 2 years of experience in a management role in a luxury hospitality establishment or upscale cruise line.
  • Fluent written and spoken English communication skills to effectively interact with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Effective communication with senior management to ensure alignment and support for strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to lead and make decisions, driving results-oriented actions and outcomes.
  • Good administrative skills to manage daily operations and maintain accurate records.
  • Experience in coaching subordinates to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Cost and quality consciousness to optimize resource allocation and minimize waste.
  • Flexibility in adapting to scheduled work hours and responding to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work with international team members to foster a diverse and inclusive work environment.
