Job Title:

Senior Database Administrator(Big Data)

Job Summary:

• We are seeking a seasoned Senior Database Administrator with expertise in big data technologies to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Analyze existing database systems and recommend improvements to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
2. Manage and maintain Cloudera Data Platform clusters, ensuring high availability and performance across the enterprise.
3. Administer and monitor Apache Kafka clusters, including topic management, performance tuning, and security best practices.
4. Perform database administration for Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL systems, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning to minimize downtime.
5. Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting and Ansible for deployment, monitoring, and configuration management.
6. Collaborate with data engineers and developers to optimize data pipelines and ensure data integrity across platforms.
7. Implement and maintain security best practices across all data platforms to protect sensitive information.
8. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the data stack in a timely manner to minimize business disruption.
9. Fix ongoing issues and take full ownership of the environment to ensure stability and reliability.
10. Create and maintain database access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers.
11. Administer database replication between servers, across Local Area Network and Wide Area Network to ensure data consistency.
12. Tune and optimize database objects for improved performance and efficiency.
13. Provide 24x7 on-call support to ensure rapid response to critical issues.
14. Provide technical input to solution development plans and concept documents to inform business decisions.
15. Communicate effectively in written and verbal form in a cross-functional setting with business partners.
16. Share knowledge and actively mentor less experienced IT administrators to build capability within the team.
17. Plan and manage major version upgrades to ensure seamless transition to new technology.
18. Design and implement effective monitoring of enterprise systems to identify potential issues before they become problems.
19. Tune systems using experience and deep knowledge of the area to optimize performance and efficiency.
20. Foresee risks and communicate and mitigate those before problems arise to ensure business continuity.
21. Document technical designs and procedures for the team library to improve knowledge sharing.
22. Plan and manage technical projects involving other teams to deliver business outcomes.
23. Communicate technology effectively to non-technical associates and management to build understanding and trust.

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business, or another relevant field and a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Outstanding academics with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge to real-world problems.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Experience with relational or NoSQL database technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to implement new technologies effectively and efficiently.
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a small team setting.
• Consistently demonstrates quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization.
• Experience with Big Data technologies supporting a broad variety of solutions including HDFS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Elastic, SQL Server.
