Disaster Recovery Specialist

Job Overview:

• Develop disaster recovery strategies and contingency plans for physical locations with critical assets, such as data centers.

• Create business continuity plans to deal with organizational emergencies.

• Test documented disaster recovery and business continuity plans to ensure effectiveness.

• Analyze the impact of potential disruptions on essential business functions or information systems to identify acceptable recovery time periods and resource requirements.

• Identify and assess risks to business operations to ensure proactive mitigation measures are in place.

• Develop emergency management plans for recovery decision making and communications, continuity of critical departmental processes, or temporary shut-down of non-critical departments to ensure continuity of operation and governance.

• Conduct regular reviews of existing disaster recovery, crisis management, or business continuity plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant.

• Establish, maintain, or test call trees to ensure appropriate communication during a disaster or emergency situation.

• Interpret government regulations and applicable codes to ensure compliance and adherence to industry standards.

• Evaluate applicable laws and regulations to determine their impact on organizational activities and make recommendations for improvement.

• Conduct or oversee contingency plan integration and operation, ensuring seamless execution and minimal disruption to business operations.

• Develop training materials and conduct training sessions to educate personnel on disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.

• Maintain and update organization information technology applications and network systems blueprints to ensure alignment with changing business needs.

• Collect and analyze corporate intelligence to identify potential threats and mitigate risk to the organization.

• Gather organizational performance data to inform strategic decision making and drive continuous improvement.
