Legal Manager Job Overview

This leadership role oversees the organization’s legal function, ensuring compliance and managing disputes.

  • Commercial Legal Expertise:
    • Provide timely legal guidance to stakeholders on various matters, including contractual agreements, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
    • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, GTCs, NDAs, MOUs, and other contractual arrangements related to sales, purchases, supply, consultancy, agency, distribution, real estate, construction, mining, and banking.
    • Develop or update contract templates and adapt existing templates to meet local requirements.
    • Coordinate with insurance teams for claims and queries.
    • Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, providing solutions to stakeholders.
  • Compliance Management:
    • Serve as the primary contact for regional compliance, ensuring effective implementation of Group compliance programs.
    • Assist in training business teams on compliance-related issues.
    • Offer advice on compliance matters, collaborating with the Group Compliance team.
  • Dispute Resolution:
    • Manage disputes, pre-litigation, and litigation matters, including arbitration.
    • Develop effective strategies to resolve legal issues, protect company interests, and address commercial claims.
    • Supervise external counsel for outsourced legal services, ensuring cost-effective representation.
    • Work with business teams to gather facts, execute litigation strategies, and provide regular updates on case progress.
  • Corporate Governance:
    • Oversee corporate secretarial and compliance matters for entities in South Asia.
    • Manage corporate governance projects, including acquisitions, restructurings, and establishing new entities.
    • Collaborate with external consultants for corporate restructuring initiatives.
  • Strategic Support:
    • Offer legal and strategic advice to internal stakeholders, translating complex concepts into actionable recommendations.
    • Partner with cross-functional teams to align legal support with business objectives.
  • General Legal Services:
    • Handle special assignments, projects, and duties related to the Legal Department as directed by senior leadership.
    • Maintain updated records and reports to ensure regulatory compliance and support audits.
