Java Backend Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Java engineer to fill this role. The ideal candidate will have strong Java knowledge and experience working with web fundamentals, HTTP protocol, and microservices.

  • The selected individual will be responsible for designing and developing responsive web applications using best engineering practices.
  • This position involves performing hands-on software development, writing code, unit tests, proof of concepts, conducting code reviews, and testing in ongoing sprints.
  • The chosen candidate must demonstrate continuous improvement through refactoring code and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • A deep understanding of integrations with other systems and platforms within supported domains is essential.
  • The successful candidate must manage their own time and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent 3-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • 5-7 years' experience working in Java and able to demonstrate good Java knowledge.
  • Able to demonstrate good web fundamentals and HTTP protocol knowledge.
  • Strong attitude, excellent communication skills, willingness to learn, and collaborate.
  • Experience working with Java 11 and above is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, Dropwizard is an asset.
  • Recent experience working in JavaScript on Node stack is an asset.
  • Proven experience with Test Driven Development (TDD), Behavior Driven Development (BDD) practices, unit testing, functional testing, system integration testing, regression testing, GUI testing, web service testing, and browser compatibility testing including frameworks such as Selenium, WebDriverIO, Cucumber, JUnit, Mockito.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery environment.
  • Working in an Agile or SAFe development environment.
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems.
  • Proven experience building scalable web application using Java.
