Senior Backend Engineering Leader

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of skilled software developers in creating and maintaining high-quality web applications.
  • Design, develop and implement scalable backend services using Python and Node.js to meet business needs.
  • Develop responsive and dynamic front-end interfaces using React.js to enhance user experience.
  • Develop and manage complex database schemas and queries using PostgreSQL to ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers and QA engineers to deliver high-quality products that meet customer needs.
  • Review code for quality, maintainability and performance to ensure it meets industry standards.
  • Guide team members in adopting best practices in coding, testing and DevOps to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to mitigate and address them quickly.
  • Stay updated with the latest technology trends and advocate for best engineering practices to drive innovation.
  • Ensure technical documentation and architectural diagrams are well maintained to facilitate knowledge sharing.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of professional experience in software development with a focus on backend engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and Node.js for developing scalable backend services.
  • Hands-on experience with React.js and modern front-end development practices to create responsive and dynamic interfaces.
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and complex query design to ensure data integrity.
  • Proficient in designing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services to meet business needs.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Docker and cloud services (AWS/GCP/Azure) to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong leadership qualities with experience managing and mentoring developers to drive team success.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field with a strong foundation in software development principles.

Good to have:

  • Experience with GraphQL or WebSockets to enhance application capabilities.
  • Exposure to microservices architecture to improve system scalability.
  • Knowledge of testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Mocha, PyTest) to ensure high-quality code.
  • Experience with container orchestration tools like Kubernetes to manage infrastructure efficiently.
