Lead R&D Engineer Role Overview

A senior-level engineer to spearhead the development of innovative medical diagnostic devices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee end-to-end R&D activities in hardware, optical systems, and device integration.
  • Design novel hardware and optics solutions for imaging and diagnostic platforms, validating their effectiveness through rigorous testing.
  • Collaborate with software, clinical, and regulatory teams to ensure product requirements are met, driving scalable technical designs.
  • Mentor and guide a multi-disciplinary team, promoting a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Make data-driven design decisions, prioritizing precision, robustness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Develop experimental designs, manage testing and validation processes, including wet-lab support and cross-functional collaborations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation required for regulatory submissions.
  • Effectively manage project timelines, resource allocation, and vendor coordination, while remaining hands-on with complex technical problem-solving.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Master's or PhD in Electronics, Optics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong technical expertise in hardware systems, optical instrumentation, sensors, and imaging technologies.
  • Prior experience in leading experimental design, prototyping, and lab-based validation.
  • Ability to manage and mentor engineers/scientists, while maintaining hands-on involvement in solving complex technical challenges.
  • Familiarity with regulatory documentation and compliance procedures.
  • Analytical mindset with ability to assimilate and interpret complex data.
  • Excellent communication skills, facilitating collaboration across clinical, regulatory, and commercial teams.
  • Prior experience in medical devices, diagnostics, or imaging platforms is highly beneficial.
