Solar Energy System Design Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Solar Energy Designer with a strong background in residential solar design. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to deliver quality results within short timelines.

This role requires the ability to interpret site data, optimize system layouts, and produce professional, code-compliant designs using advanced PV design software. Designs must be completed and delivered within tight timeframes, making time management and responsiveness critical to success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design residential solar PV systems based on site data and project specifications
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, utility standards, and jurisdictional requirements
  • Review and incorporate as-built site information including photos, roof measurements, and shading
  • Communicate with internal teams to ensure designs align with customer expectations and project requirements
  • Maintain high levels of accuracy
  • Manage daily workload efficiently to meet aggressive turnaround targets
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in residential PV system design
  • Strong proficiency with at least one major solar design platform (e.g., Scanifly, Aurora, Helioscope, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) compliance requirements
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to deliver within tight timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Bonus Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a high-volume design environment
  • Familiarity with collaborative communication tools for efficient workflow
